The Three Types of Chemical Peels

Sexual Rejuvenation

Chemical peels are cosmetic treatments that can be applied to the face, hands, and neck. Chemical peels remove damaged skin cells and reveal the healthy cells beneath for improved appearance and texture. A chemical solution is applied to your skin, causing the skin to exfoliate and eventually peel off, revealing smooth, glowing skin.

Chemical peels can treat a variety of things, including:

  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Sun damage
  • Acne scars
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Scars
  • Melasma
  • Uneven skin tone or redness

There are 3 types of chemical peels that you can receive depending on what you’re trying to address:

  • Superficial or a light chemical peel exfoliates the skin gently and only reaches the outermost layer of your skin. This peel will treat fine wrinkles, acne, uneven skin tone, and dryness using mild acids like alpha-hydroxy acid. To maintain these key benefits, you may need to receive this peel every 2–5 weeks.
  • Medium peels are best for damaged skin as it reaches the middle and outer layers of your skin. This peel uses trichloroacetic or glycolic acid to treat wrinkles, acne scars, and uneven skin tone. To achieve your desired results, you may need to repeat this treatment.
  • Deep chemical peels fully penetrate the middle layer of skin, making it the most intense but most effective at removing damaged skin cells. Using phenol or trichloroacetic acid, this type of peel will treat deeper wrinkles, scars, or precancerous growths. You will not need to repeat this treatment to achieve the full effect.
